Buctown Wrestlers compete at the USAW Northeast Regional & World Team Trials.
Buctown Athletes; Alisa Safforld, Diego Viera, Luci Tiankee, Leo Tiankee.
As expected, in the three long days spent competing we faced some really tough matches at this high-level qualifier. All 4 athletes competed in Freestyle, while Leo Tiankee took on Freestyle and Greco.
Diego Viera and Leo Tiankee not qualifying for nationals doesn't take away from their hard work and dedication leading up to this event. We are extremely proud of your performances.
Alisa Safforld leaps into the World Team Trials. Winning a medal at this competition qualifies each athlete in their weight division to earn a spot in the 2022 World Team Trials Tournament.
Although coming up short after a 1 year layoff from competition, where she was runner-up at the 2021 NJSIAA State Final, Safforld showed so much courage to get out there and scrap with the best in the country.
To close out the weekend, a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Luci Tiankee, the 2022 Northeast Regional Freestyle Champ! Luci went 3-0, taking 1st place on the podium and qualifying for USAW Kids Freestyle Nationals set to take place next month in Farmington, UT.
Luci, it is an honor to watch you grow in this sport and be a part of your amazing achievements.
And to Mr. Tiankee, your dedication and support to your family and ours is valued and admired. We recognize firsthand all the work (and miles) you've put into each of your children and to bettering their craft. Thank you for trusting in us to join you in their corner.

Buctown Strong is a 501(c) Nonprofit Organization that provides classes through various forms of martial arts; Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and Muay Thai/Boxing for youth students 18 & under. Buctown Strong Nonprofit is made possible by membership fees, fundraisers, events, clinics, and sales of Buctown merchandise. 100% of the proceeds are put towards our facility, expanding the capacity for kids to train free, entering and traveling to tournaments, in-house and out-house clinics, coaches and staff, equipment and gear, going to different gyms and clubs, and to help build the growing foundation of Buctown MMA.
