Welcome to DCL, where the virtual meets the decentralized!
You may have heard us mention Decentraland, and have absolutely no idea what we're talking about.
Don't worry, we got you.
Whether you're a seasoned metaverse explorer or a newcomer to the world of web 3 decentralized platforms, this guide will walk you through the onboarding process, helping you step into the immersive and innovative universe of Decentraland.
What is Decentraland?
Decentraland is a virtual world built for people to browse a 3-Dimensional internet experience. You can explore, create, and interact with others in a decentralized, user-owned environment. This platform is powered by blockchain technology, community, and the creation & ownership of digital assets.
Join us as the future of internet exploration takes its first step into the present.
1. Enter Decentraland
Visit decentraland.org where you can choose your experience - either through your web browser or downloading the application onto your computer.
You can scroll through the main page to see some what Decentraland has to offer.
There are a few ways to sign into Decentraland. Below we will explain the options provided.
a. Social Sign In
To begin your journey in Decentraland, you can join the newest, and easiest way to onboard is through socials like Twitter and Discord, Apple or simply use Google sign in.

b. Create Your Wallet
If you don't want to go though social sign in, you'll need to create a digital wallet. We recommend MetaMask as we believe it's the easiest wallet to use in Web 3. This will be used not only to sign in, but to make transactions within the platform and to hold your digital assets.
c. Connect Your Wallet to Decentraland
After installation, connect the wallet of your choice by authorizing the interaction between your wallet and DCL. This step is crucial for accessing and managing your digital assets ($MANA [Decentraland native token], wearables, and emotes) within the platform.
In this short video we use Metamask wallet to sign in, along with our security app Wallet Guard -- which we explain at the end of this article.
3. Customize Your Avatar
Once connected, you'll be prompted to create and customize your virtual avatar. Choose your appearance, clothing, and accessories to make your virtual self unique. This customized avatar will represent you as you navigate through the metaverse.
4. Explore The World
You can run around the lobby (Genesis Plaza) or click the "Discover" tab to discover different events happening and places to visit.
Explore various districts, art installations, games, and social spaces.
Decentraland is a dynamic world and thriving community. You can attend events, like our Fight Nights, gamified activities, parties with music and live DJs, education, and connect with other users around the world and share different experiences.
